Here's one of my favorites at the Hogback, dated Mar 13, 1965, showing the 727 and 803 on the rear of a NB heading for the Harbor. This was the only time I ever climbed to this vantage point. Has anyone tried it more recently (and obviously when there's no foliage); wondering if there's too many trees and branches. Some 47 years later, I'm not about to do it. Attachments:

There's been alot of discussion regarding the 1974 runaway accident and the aftermath. Never saw any photos posted, but then maybe I missed 'em. Anyway, here's a shot taken about a week after the collision. About all you can say is that the paint looks good, albeit a little scratched and dented. Attachments:

Found this critter at Albion in Sept of '71. Michigan Limestone & Chemical 101 was I believe assigned to the stone dock at Conneaut. Even back then, finding an Alco HH (she was an HH600) was rare. Anybody know what happened to her? Attachments:

I don't think that shot on the Hogback is possible anymore. The trees have grown up quite a bit. Now would be a great time to find out though! The ML&C switcher is awesome. I never even knew the stone company at the dock had its own unit. Sure would be nice if they got a new one today and gave back 868 for the road.....

In the heyday of Conneaut's "Upper Facility," here's the 718A that was working the yard in March of 1983. Thank God, F's didn't come standard with that rear view mirror! Attachments:

Jim,
That Michigan Limestone & Chemical 101 was sold to a scrap dealer in Akron, OH by the name of Barnett Scrap Co.
Although it's possible it actually made the one-way trip to Akron, my guess would be that it was scrapped on-site at Conneaut.

Forgot to mention that they (ML&C) also had an Alco S1 and a GE 35-ton at Conneaut.
No idea what happened to the Alco, but the GE was last known to be working at a scrap yard in Ashtabula.

A recent donation to the Conneaut Railroad Museum was this photo donated by Douglas Murphy. It's dated "circa 1914" with 2-8-0 152 on the head end and sister 117 pushing, southbound around the Hogback. Train has 34 cars and a caboose between the locomotives. The first of the 2-10-2's were still two years away. We were happy to add this to our growing B&LE collection. It complements a similar photo we have dated 1920 with a 2-10-2 leading, and probably another on the rear. I say "probably" as train lengths and car sizes had grown such that the helper was out of view. Attachments:
