CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT??? I was shopping on EBAY and someone has a set of single dome tankcars. He says, "These are factory painted B&LE Tank Cars that Athearn made about 6-7 years ago. The Bessemer used them to carry extra water for use with their steam locomotives." I don't know if this is a TRUE fact or not. I don't recall any pictures of any Bessemer tankcars. TRUE or FALSE....

I saw those two tanks on there last night they look nice. Yes they did have tank cars but I don't think they hauled water for steam engines. They were in maintenance of way service, don't know what they hauled. Either water or fuel oil. Hope that helps.

It was very common for railroads to used company owned tank cars for fuel oil and water before over the road truck capacities were raised. Water for weed spraying, and other projects was always a need, and fuel oil for various facility's was often delivered by tank car.

I saw I picture of the WA that had a BLE tank car sitting in Kaylor. I assumed that was the fuel storage. Run hose drain directly into loco. Nice and simple.
