Here are photos I took back in 2006 of wrecked B&LE hoppers left over from a Norfolk Southern derailment at Radebaugh. On May 3, 2006 NS train 72N derailed at Radebaugh Pa. The train which was heading for Ohio put 29 cars on the ground all of which were B&LE hoppers mostly (if not all) from the 65000-66000 series. These photos were taken several days after the wreck. In January of 2007, the yard engine assigned to Conneaut made at least two, possibly three, trips to Wallace to pick up hoppers that were repaired after a derailment on the NS. I was told there were about fifteen cars in total coming back. Photo shows the 866 returning southbound at Platea on the Erie Branch, on Jan 10, 2007. Never knew any details about the derailment, but the photos posted by urr566 may have been the one. Granted, many months passed, but the repair certainly wasn't a priority, and there were probably cost issues to be sorted out. urr566, whadda you think? And were the cars in the derailment mty or loads? Can anyone else provide more info? Attachments:

These cars in the wreck were loads-they were carrying gypsum from Indiana County to a plant in Ohio. Conrail and NS use to run this train every so often however since then I personally havent seen any BLE hoppers used. The cars that were repaired and brought back may have been some of the ones involved. Some cars at Grapeville were only slightly damaged while some were completely ripped apart. I forget what exactly caused this wreck but from what I remember cars were piled on top of each other. They may have picked the crossovers CP RADE. This photo at railpictures shows that some hoppers were loaded onto trucks and hauled away. www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=148833&nseq=55
