Other than the Osgood Viaduct, the High Line proves to be relatively non photogenic to railroad photography. The tracks are mostly treed in, and they curve away from the afternoon light from the west once you get south of Greenville. It has been a bit of a personal quest of mine to nab some good photos along the line while the orange B&LE motive power is still around. I thought I'd share this photo with you all from near Milepost 85 at Henlein, where Methodist road ducks under the high line. Much to my chagrin, while on a chase back on May 2nd, the sun was still high enough in the sky at 12:53pm to avoid the long afternoon shadows from the adjacent trees as 908 and 905 bring another loaded ore train southbound up the hill. Usually I do not appreciate mid-day photos due to the stark shadows cast on the trucks and underframes in the high sun. But in a location such as Henlein where the tracks curve to the south east, I feel that finding nose light at all in the afternoon is an accomplishment. Does anyone else have any "keepers" to share from the High Line? Attachments:
