Expect RR traffic to & from N. Bessemer to be impacted accordingly. "A Penn Hills Road will be closed this week because of railroad crossing repairs, PennDOT announced Monday. Thompson Run Road will be closed at the railroad crossing between Frey and Universal roads from 7 a.m. Tuesday through 3 p.m. Thursday, according to PennDOT. Union Railroad will be replacing railroad track and repairing asphalt. Traffic will be detoured by using Frey Road to Universal Road." triblive.com/local/allegheny/13800578-74/railroad-crossing-work-closing-thompson-run-road-in-penn-hillsSide note: the taconite pellets on the asphalt are like marbles. Took a spill last year from them.

BTW, there were piles of new ties stacked up at Hall plus there was a crane parked way in back. Now I know why.
May be a good chance to photograph some URR MoW equipment. Would like to get nice shots of the crane and dump car(s)

If the crane you saw at Hall was white, its not the operational crane. They had two cranes, D-40 and D-41. The D-41 was parted out to keep sister D-40 running, and D-40 got a new motor which isn't that good and was painted yellow and red in 2016. D-40 usually sits at Duquesne with the rest of the MOW stuff, like the track panel car (a cut down 600 series slab rack), side dump and I believe a couple of the ex-Bessemer ballast hoppers unless they stay at ET nowadays.
