I'm building a free-mo module set that will include 12 stalls of the erecting shop, the diesel house, transfer table, storehouse and passenger car shop.
I have the rough building length & width measurements from Google earth but need building heights. Anyone know how tall the erecting shop is? I'm mocking up the buildings with foam core models to get an idea of how to lay out the multiple modules that will make up this scene.
I have an number of Walthers kits I'm going to kitbash for the project - Railroad Shops and Transfer table with extensions and waiting for the re-issue of Vulcan manufacturing in Feb to get a number of those kits. For the Diesel House I have an old Model Masterpieces building with extension. The storehouse and passenger car shop are still up in the air how I'll do those but most likely scratch built....
I'll post some photos in the next few days of the project.

Here are a couple of shots of the mock-ups for the Erecting Shop plus attached diesel shop. I put together the Walthers Tranfer table with pit two extensions. I'll have to modify where stall 24 is on the erecting shop as the transfer table won't line up with the stall as it is too close to the diesel house. I have a question about the diesel house - does the track extend all the way into stalls 25 & 26 of the erecting shop and if so do the diesel servicing platforms and pits extending into this space? Second photo: I cut off the Erecting shop at what would be about bay 10. This makes the shop 51 inches long and 8 5/8" tall. When were bays 10, 11 & 12 blocked off (doors removed)? Attachments:

Looks like a great start. Having spent a considerable amount of time around this building and based on your fantastic work the viaduct module, I look forward to seeing this project progress!

Looks great DMIR. Glad to see somebody modeling the shops. They are still an impressive site to see! As for the diesel shop question, I am not 100% sure, I have a picture taken from outside the shop (facing north) looking in at a loco. It looks like you can see clear through at some glass windows. This is blowing the pic up and not a very clear pic. And with that said I do not know if the service bay goes all the way through or ends at the original erecting shop wall.

Making some progress on the module set! The two frames for the the erecting shop and transfer table are built. I figured out the transfer table programming and I can run the bridge the length of the table stopping at the 14 track locations I'll have on the module. Wired up one track running into the erecting shop and can run a loco on and off the bridge! Next I need to build a third module which will have the turnouts that connect to the diesel and erecting shops.

I wanted to have the transfer table bridge aligned with bay 24 (right adjacent to the diesel house) but the transfer table bridge is too wide so I'll have to make a wider brick wall over what would have been bay 24. Attachments:

Its all looking really good !!!! Hope the pictures I sent along help. I don't plan on starting my main layout (Downtown Greenville crossing, Passenger Terminal, the complete Greenville Shop area, and the Shenago Yard. Also the Osgood Yard & Viaduct) until I retire in 6yrs.
