As many know we have seen a few jobs on the URR and USS side go to remote.
Trestle job went to a remote last winter and recently URR crews in the mills at Clairton and ET have gone to remote.
50 Crew aka North Bessemer turn has gone to a two person job, lost the caboose
More changes coming this fall, possible big news for the spring

Irvin is remote too now. The double unit for 20 Crew is still there but usually just sits on the fuel track while a single 1500 switches the mill. I don't know if this remote is 20 Crew or a different job.
9 Crew at the Hump is to be remote now as well. They tried running it remote in the spring and it worked. All MP15's to get RCL, 10 and 11 are already equipped as I reported in the URR roster thread. Possibly more engines than that but I don't update that roster unless I see anything myself.
The 1500's are beat up. They have been for years but as I understand they run double unit remotes at Clairton because it takes two units to do the work of what one could do (generators are beat).

The doubling of the units is more based off how the SWs perform. Similar issues happened on the trestle job at ET. The best remote operator can not get the same performance then a real engineer. Because of how the brakes bail off, throttle responds etc through the box they just can move cars the same way. I guess on paper it cost less to run to units then to pay a second man a living wage.

I thought I saw it parked way in the back at Hall. Tough to tell from the Rt 22 bridge, too much holiday traffic to slow down. As with everything, take more pics & video now, never know when stuff will disappear.

Irvin Works has a double unit remote set now. On Saturday I saw the 3 by itself but tonight I saw it working the storage yard with the 23. I have never in my lifetime seen an SW1500 mu'ed to an MP15. Back in the day the 1500's were mixed in with the MP15's but the downsizing of the roster in the 90's ended that and the two models were kept separate unless being moved to and from Hall.

Now the 6 and 24 are together at Irvin with the 3 sitting on the fuel track alone. I guess the Hostler took the 23 away on Wednesday.

Management gets its way you'll see a lot more remote jobs.
The FRA is very company friendly these days, has been that way for the past 10 + years.

Saw a neat load on lower Rodi Road last week. This is the road that goes from business 22 to Linhart and eventually turtle creek. Two big flatbed tractor trailers hauling 1 each AAR Type "A" switcher trucks. Either headed to Hall shops or down to US Steel ET. Couldn't grab a picture and didn't have time to follow. No idea where they came from. I've seen wheels transported before, but never whole truck assemblies. Would make a neat (and prototypical) load for modelers. I think those were on there way out.
Two such trucks have been sitting outside at Hall for years.
Either sold or being sent out for a refurb.

GECX B40s 5968, 5972, and 5973 are being transported on CSX currently. They are way-billed for N. Bessemer, and are supposedly going to be tested by the URR.

They are. Waybill information is incorrect, these are coming through Dexter
Two are on the property now, currently being readied for testing on 50 and 60 crew.
The plan is to eventually use two units on 50, and three on 60.
Give Hall about a week to get them ready for service.

Two on 50 Crew seems to be a bit of a stretch. Same for three on 66 Crew. These were never built for tonnage trains. But we will see.
Yes that will be the third MP with remote. The current two are the 10 and 11. They seem to stay on 9 and 76 Crews.
